We are committed to using cutting edge machine learning technology in order to fight the scourge of school dropouts in South Africa. Together with our partners we seek to introduce a machine learning early detection model to allow for early interventions in schools.

Who we are

Machine Learning hub is an NGO that is making use of 4IR technology to assist in curbing the school dropout rate. Our company makes use of machine learning to predict which students are at risk of dropping our based on various factors

Our platform also has a platform where students can download and view passed question papers and updated educational content.

We continuously collect and analyze data from students and from partner stakeholders to make more informed decisions.

According to data from South Africa’s department of basic education in 2011, 6.5% of learners dropped out in grade 9, 11.5% dropped out in grade 10 and 11,8% dropped out in grade 11. It is estimated that of 100 children that start grade 1, 50 will drop out, 40 will complete matric and only 12 will go to university. In the year 2013 only 40% of those that commenced school 12 years prior passed matric in 2014 this dropped to 36%. There is another big issue in our country that is unemployment which is also driven by education and unskilled labor

According to Stats SA our countries unemployment rate stood at 34.4% with graduate unemployment amongst 18–24-year-old at 40,3% and 15,5% amongst 25–34-year old’s. Only 5,4% of graduates aged between 35-64 years were unemployed. From these statistics we can see that youth are particularly most affected and much worse those that have no education. We’re of the opinion that one’s level of education plays a big role in determining their chances of finding employment, unskilled and uneducated labor continues to rise, and solutions need to be devised to address this. With our country in the 4IR we need to ensure our schools retain students and education provided to them is of quality. .
